Admission Profile
The Programme is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to specialise in breast diseases. Applications are open to:
Graduates of Medical Schools in Greece or recognised institutions abroad.
Graduates of related health professions and biological sciences who are legally eligible to undertake postgraduate studies, such as nurses, radiographers, biologists, and psychologists.
Within the medical profession, the Programme is relevant to all specialties involved in the management of breast diseases, including surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, gynaecologists, and psychiatrists.
Selection Criteria
The selection process is based on the applicant’s overall profile rather than solely on their undergraduate degree grade. Academic performance during undergraduate studies, particularly in subjects relevant to the Programme, research experience, publications, and letters of recommendation are all taken into consideration.
The personal interview also plays an important role, providing applicants with an opportunity to present their academic interests and explain their motivation for choosing the Programme. Evidence of professional or research experience may be submitted but is not a prerequisite for admission.
As part of the teaching and academic literature is in English, applicants are required to demonstrate a very good command of the English language (Proficiency level).
Under no circumstances does an applicant’s financial situation constitute grounds for exclusion.
Special Categories
Each year, one member of the University’s Special Educational Personnel (EEP), Laboratory Teaching Personnel (EDIP), or Special Technical Laboratory Personnel (ETEP), whose field of expertise is relevant to the Programme, may be admitted in addition to the established number of available places.
Scholarship recipients of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), as well as international students holding Greek Government scholarships in a related field, are admitted without entrance examinations.
Before Applying
Clinical training is a compulsory component of the Programme and requires in-person attendance. It takes place on weekdays, rather than on Saturdays or remotely, at Breast Units and clinics primarily located in Athens.
Applicants who are currently employed are therefore advised to take this requirement into consideration when planning their studies.
For further information regarding the clinical training schedule, applicants may contact the Programme Secretariat.
