Advantages
A Specialised Programme Dedicated Exclusively to Breast Diseases. This is the only postgraduate programme in Greek academia devoted exclusively to breast diseases. Rather than offering a single course within a broader curriculum, the Programme provides comprehensive studies entirely dedicated to this field, from prevention to oncological follow-up care.
Multidisciplinary Approach. The teaching staff includes breast surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gynaecologists, plastic surgeons, geneticists, and specialists from other disciplines. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of how each specialty approaches patient care.
Clinical Training in Specialised Breast Units. Clinical training takes place in university Breast Units and a network of collaborating clinical, diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, and pathology departments. Students gain first-hand experience of how a well-organised breast centre operates.
Training Through Real Clinical Cases. Clinical scenarios presented during lectures, together with participation in multidisciplinary oncology board meetings, familiarise students with real-world clinical decision-making and the collaborative approach adopted by multidisciplinary teams.
Up-to-Date Curriculum. Teaching is based on current national and international clinical guidelines, covering recent advances such as digital breast tomosynthesis, contrast-enhanced mammography, artificial intelligence in medical imaging, oncoplastic surgical techniques, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy.
International Perspective. Internationally recognised experts from universities and medical centres abroad contribute to the Programme by delivering lectures in English.
Holistic Patient Care. Beyond diagnosis and treatment, the Programme addresses psychological support, nursing care, and long-term patient follow-up.
Strong Emphasis on Research. Students receive training in research methodology. For their individual Master’s thesis, they are supported by a specialist researcher working in collaboration with their academic supervisor. The Programme encourages students to present and publish the findings of their research.
Scholarships and Awards. Students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance during the first semester may apply for a merit-based scholarship. Scholarships are also available in recognition of contributions to supplementary teaching activities. In addition, the top three students in each cohort receive honorary awards for academic excellence.
