Health & Psychological Support

1. Healthcare Services

The NKUA Health Service provides healthcare to all students, including Greek nationals, members of the Greek diaspora and international students. It is located on the first floor (offices 6–10) of the University Club at 15 Ippokratous Street and comprises medical, dental and nursing departments.

2. Psychosocial Intervention Unit

The NKUA Psychosocial Intervention Unit provides free psychological and psychiatric support to all students, addressing both study-related concerns and personal difficulties. The Unit operates at two locations:

3. Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities

The NKUA Accessibility Unit ensures equitable access to university studies for students with disabilities or specific educational needs. It provides reasonable adjustments to teaching and examinations, digital accessibility, volunteer support, accessible transport, psychological counselling and access to adapted academic textbooks.

4. University Gym, Swimming Pool & Sports

The University Gym, swimming pool and sports facilities at the University Campus in Ano Ilisia are available to all NKUA students. Activities include tennis, basketball, volleyball, football, swimming, traditional dance, chess and hiking.

Students may join departmental or University teams and take part in internal, inter-university and international student championships. Award recipients are honoured by the Rectorate at a special ceremony following the end of the academic year.

6. Childcare Centres & Kindergarten

For students who are parents, NKUA provides childcare centres and a kindergarten on the University Campus, managed by the University of Athens Property Development and Management Company.

7. Foreign Language Courses

The NKUA Foreign Language Teaching Centre is an independent academic unit offering courses at all proficiency levels in 23 languages: English, Albanian, Arabic, Bulgarian, French, German, Danish, Japanese, Indian languages (Hindi and Sanskrit), Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Norwegian, Dutch, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Swedish, Turkish, Czech and Finnish.

Specialist programmes are also offered in language studies, translation, law and medical science. Successful completion leads to a Certificate of Attendance or Certificate of Study.

8. Student Reading Rooms

Two reading rooms operate at the University Club, 15 Ippokratous Street: one on the 2nd floor with 250 seats and one on the 4th floor with 120 seats and four computers. An additional reading room is available on the University Campus. The reading rooms are open Monday to Friday, 08:00–21:00.

9. KLEIDI — Digital Services

KLEIDI is NKUA’s central IT and network service, supporting more than 80,000 members of the academic community. Postgraduate students can access its services using their institutional credentials.

Services include wired and wireless internet access, institutional email, telephony and videoconferencing, website hosting, data storage and file sharing, as well as technical support.

Careers & Employability

10. Housing and Employment Support

The University Club’s Public Relations and Student Employment Office provides information on scholarships, awards, seminars, workshops and conferences; advises students on accommodation and apartment rentals; supports job searches; and oversees the Student Cultural Association.

11. Career Office

The Career Office supports students and graduates in their professional development. Services include guidance on preparing CVs and references, interview preparation, vacancy information and Career Days with Greek and international employers. The Office also supports a Youth Entrepreneurship programme.

12. International Careers Unit

The International Careers Unit operates within the Career Office and is based in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. It systematically compiles calls and vacancies from European and international organisations, NGOs, international missions and research centres.

Culture & Creativity

13. Music Department

The Music Department organises courses in musicology, music history, musical instruments, art music, traditional Greek music and Byzantine music, as well as the student choir and orchestra. The mixed choir and orchestra perform at University ceremonies and concerts in Greece and abroad.

Facilities include a teaching room with audio equipment, a music library, a classical music collection, a film archive and musical instruments.

14. Student Cultural Association

The NKUA Student Cultural Association supports student artistic activities through four divisions: Theatre, Dance, Film and Photography. Students may join by submitting a written application to the office of the relevant division.
