Quality Assurance Policy

The Postgraduate Programme in Breast Diseases implements the Quality Assurance Policy established by the School of Medicine for the development and continuous improvement of the Programme. This policy is fully aligned with the Quality Assurance Policy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). The policy is implemented through the procedures of the University's Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS), adapted to the specific needs of the Postgraduate Programme and carried out in close cooperation with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP). These procedures are audited, reviewed and, where necessary, revised annually by the Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA), in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of NKUA.

Key Areas of Implementation

The Quality Assurance Policy is implemented through seven procedures:

  • Quality assurance measures that establish the framework within which the Programme operates.
  • Allocation and management of resources to ensure the availability of the necessary personnel, funding, infrastructure and equipment.
  • Annual objective setting, with measurable quantitative and qualitative objectives assessed through specific performance indicators.
  • Annual internal evaluation of all Postgraduate Programme procedures, with the support of the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP).
  • Collection and analysis of data relating to students, teaching staff, courses and services provided. These data are submitted to the Integrated National Quality Information System (OPESP) of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) and the University's information systems.
  • Publication of up-to-date, clear and objective information about the Programme.
  • Periodic external evaluation and accreditation by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE), conducted by a panel of independent experts.

Objectives

Through these procedures, the Programme aims to ensure that the learning outcomes and qualifications of its graduates meet the requirements of Level 7 of both the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The Programme also seeks to ensure that its graduates' qualifications meet the needs of the labour market, which it assesses regularly, while monitoring graduates' career progression.

Within the same framework, the following are also monitored:

  • the quality of teaching,
  • the suitability and qualifications of teaching staff, particularly external collaborators,
  • the adequacy of student support services, including services for students with disabilities,
  • the efficient use of resources generated from tuition fees.

How the Policy Is Communicated

The Quality Assurance Policy is distributed electronically to the teaching, administrative and technical staff of the Postgraduate Programme at the beginning of each academic year. At the start of each study cycle, the policy is also sent to newly enrolled students and presented to them during the welcome event. Relevant stakeholders and organisations collaborating with the Programme are also informed of the policy.
