Practical Training

Practical training is compulsory and forms an integral part of the Master's Programme in Breast Diseases. It carries a total of 20 ECTS (6 ECTS in the first semester and 14 ECTS in the second semester) and is delivered exclusively in person .

Its aim is to consolidate theoretical knowledge through clinical application. Students work alongside specialised multidisciplinary teams involved in all aspects of patient care, follow the patient pathway from prevention and diagnosis through to treatment, and gain essential experience for their future professional careers. They also become familiar with current developments and the demands of clinical practice.

Stages of Clinical Practice

Clinical practice is organised into two stages, aligned with the theoretical courses taught in each semester:

Stage Semester Hours / week ECTS Clinical Focus & Activities
Clinical Practice I First 3 6 Prevention & Diagnosis: Taking patient histories and performing clinical examinations in outpatient clinics; introduction to population screening methods and imaging/diagnostic techniques. Initial observation of multidisciplinary oncology team meetings and surgical procedures.
Clinical Practice II Second 7 14 Treatment & Multidisciplinary Management: Observation of specialised surgical procedures and multidisciplinary oncology team meetings, and familiarisation with the operation of radiotherapy departments and histopathology laboratories.
