Mode of Instruction
Theoretical instruction is organised into thematic units. Lectures are combined with clinical scenarios and examples from everyday clinical practice. In addition, students complete individual and group assignments involving literature reviews. Educational materials are available through the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) e-class platform.
Coordination of Teaching
The Course Coordinator, who is a member of the Coordinating Committee, is responsible for ensuring the coherence and regular updating of each course's content. In addition, a coordinator with expertise in the relevant field is appointed for each thematic unit to integrate the individual lectures and facilitate discussions with students. This structure ensures consistency and continuity in teaching, even when several different lecturers contribute to the same teaching day.
Clinical Practice
Clinical practice is conducted in person under the supervision of the Programme's teaching staff. This is where theory is put into practice: breast outpatient clinics, diagnostic imaging departments, operating theatres, and multidisciplinary oncology boards, where clinical cases are discussed collaboratively by specialists from different disciplines. Each student records their participation in the Student Training Logbook.
Pace of Studies
Attendance
Lectures are generally held on Saturdays at the facilities of the School of Medicine in Goudi, Athens. Clinical practice takes place on weekdays, according to a schedule announced at the beginning of each semester. Attendance is compulsory. To be eligible to sit the examination for a course, students must attend at least 80% of its scheduled teaching hours.
Assessment
Assessment takes place at the end of each semester, according to the assessment method determined by the instructor responsible for each course. The third semester concludes with the defence of the Master's thesis before a three-member examination committee.
